FAQ General Information

Before your wedding

Once you book, our florist will work with you to develop a customized quote for you based on your desires and vision. They will be able to guide you no matter what stage of planning you are in, whether you know exactly what kind of flowers you want or if you just know a color scheme. Once you have approved the quote, they get to work determining exactly how to bring that vision to fresh and vibrant life on your wedding day.

On your wedding day

Your floral designer will arrive early (during the time you are getting ready) to deliver corsages, bouquets, and boutonnieres for you and the members of your wedding party, set up any floral design for the ceremony and deliver, prep and place any arrangements necessary for your reception. They will not leave until every blossom and stem is perfectly in place and ready for your big day!

When should I book my florist?

Once you have chosen a wedding date and a color scheme for your ceremony, you should consider floral options. Chicago Wedding Florist books weddings as much as 18 months before the date, and since we limit the number of weddings we service per weekend, you will want to book your florist as soon as possible. Most brides book Chicago Wedding Florist services 9 to 12 months before their wedding date.

When will we speak with our designer?

One of our designers will contact you within two business days of receiving a booking. At that time you may set up your initial floral consultation.

Where do consultations take place?

We have a consultation room set up in our store that showcases some of our designs and rental items. We recommend that you meet with us in our showroom as it is helpful in visualizing designs and making decisions.

Can we see live samples of different flowers?

We have many photo books with images of flowers. You can ask your designer at your consultation; it may be possible to show you some live samples at that time. (Note: special requests to view live samples may require additional fees.)

Can I bring my mom to my consultation?

Chicago Wedding Florist always welcomes moms, sisters, bridesmaids, or fiance to attend your consultation. However, keep in mind that the more people you bring, the more opinions you will be given, and the more confusing it can get!

Should I bring anything to my consultation?

Yes. Please bring a photo of your bridal and bridesmaids gowns, along with a swatch of the bridesmaids’ dresses if it is a difficult color to match. A list of corsage and boutonniere recipients can also be helpful.  Most importantly, don’t forget to bring pictures of your favorite floral arrangements.

What happens after I get my quote?

We will require a $200 deposit which is refundable for 14 business days from the date you receive your custom proposal.

How long will my consultation last?

A typical initial consultation takes about an hour.

What do we do with the rental items?

All rental items must be returned to Chicago Wedding Florist the Tuesday following your event. Boxes for transporting rental items will be provided by your floral designer.

What is the delivery charge and what does it include?

Delivery charges will vary depending on the floral package you select and the delivery distance. Delivery includes drop off at the location(s) of your choice. Delivery does not include any setup or transfer charges. Full service package options are available for delivery, setup and transfer. Additional travel fees may apply if your delivery location falls outside of a 40-mile radius.

Traditionally, for whom will I need to provide floral for my wedding?

Your bridal bouquet, the groom’s boutonniere, bouquets and boutonnieres for your bridesmaids and groomsmen are the first things to think about. Next up: corsages and boutonnieres for parents, grandparents, godparents, ushers, readers, attendants, ring bearers, flower girls, and any other important participants in your wedding. After you have taken care of the people in your wedding, it’s time to consider other arrangements such as flowers going down your aisle, outside your ceremony or reception sites, centerpieces, a cake topper, head table arrangements, or any other floral accents. Your designer will help you make sure you don’t miss anything!

What happens if the flowers I want aren’t in season on my wedding date?

Your designer will know during the planning stages whether or not your preferred blooms will be available on your date. If not, they can advise you of some viable alternatives, or you can also consider using premium-quality silk substitutes.

Is there a minimum order?

NO, We do not have minimum orders

How much should I budget for my wedding flowers?

That depends on how important your ceremony and reception flowers are to you, especially compared to the other elements in your ceremony,  location, music, caterer, photographer. Chicago Wedding Florist brides spend an average of $2000 per package, but floral budgets can range from $450 to $10,000.

On which lapel should the men wear their boutonnieres?

Traditionally, corsages and boutonnieres should be pinned on the left lapel. (Wrist corsages are typically worn on the left wrist as well.)

Will a florist come to my ceremony to pin my corsages and boutonnieres?

Chicago Wedding Florist  will gladly pin your corsages and boutonnieres when your bridal and bridesmaids bouquets are delivered.

Do you design in silk flowers?

Chicago Wedding Florist considers fresh flowers to be preferred to even the highest quality silk flowers.  There is nothing like the smell, feel, and beauty of fresh flowers!  Because of this, we do not design silk arrangements.
